I first started playing before we got space legs. Though, I only logged around 50 hours. I played solo. Spending the vast majority of my time exploring with the FSS. Not moving far from the starting station.

My memory is awful. I made a new save. Completed the opening and then proceeded to finish the entirety of the first tab in training.

So, as for the reason I'm keeping this post.

I'm looking for any advice and tips you might have. Currently I'm struggling most with navigation both in ship and on foot. As well as keeping track of everything.

Although I know than welcome any advice and tips no matter what it's concerning. Even if it's something mentioned in the tutorials and training that didn't click for you until later.

Like the data scanning training for the SRV. I was there for ages trying to figure it out. All because the scanner doesn't show up on the hard points like it would in the ship training.

Do the tutorials. Spend some time in the newbie zone, it's a fairly friendly place.

Learn to dock manually. Practice in one of the tutorial missions for this as much as needed.

Stick to learning to fly first, the on-foot stuff can come later.

Lastly, always follow rule #1, never fly without a rebuy!

For me at least the game changer was taking some time to get used to the key layout either remapping or just getting my fingers reaching for the correct place. If you have a HOTAS this can be mostly ignored but ideally when you get to further missions dog fights are going to be common so weapons and/or maneuvers are going to be needed.

Keep an eye on your fuel gauge and remember to check your last available refuelling point on the route plotter for long journeys. (Last main sequence star if you have a fuel scoop or last inhabited system if not)

Also maybe bookmark the fuel rats and hull seals in case of emergency 🙂

Every time I play after months I have to spend time in the simulator to remember how to play. It usually comes back to me pretty quickly.
