The day before his inauguration, President-elect Donald Trump will reportedly be attending an interfaith prayer service in Washington D.C. His wealthiest supporters can also attend — if they write or solicit a big enough check.

So, it's been 8 years, and I expected all of this since there were 0 consequences last time, but he's being blatantly worse with things like this already right?

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 10 points 16 hours ago

I guess at least the corruption is open now.

12 Then Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.

13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a den of robbers.”

Just to be clear, he didn't have the whip on him. He was so outraged that he left, braided his own whip, and came back like four hours later.

I like to imagine Christ sitting on a rock muttering to himself, "Doing that shit in The Lord's house, I'm about to show you assholes the proper ending to a Monopoly™ Game, and that won't even be invented for another 1900 years."

Meanwhile the apostles are just watching in horror trying desperately to figure out what it was that finally pissed him off.

When asking yourself, "WWJD?" always remember that whipping people and flipping tables is on the menu.

Violent antifa, hippie! Probably paid crisis actor paid by (((globalists))).

[–] Gork@lemm.ee 88 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I remember seeing people during the first Trump administration insisting that Trump was chosen by God.

This was in spite of him married three times, cheating on his pregnant wife with a porn star, bragging about grabbing women by the pussy, and generally putting money above anything else beside his ego. When called out on it, the response was merely "I don't care."

Truly a bastion of moral values!

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It is explicitly a Christian teaching that all rulers are chosen by God, although not necessarily because they are good people who will do a good job which is what most of the people who said that about Trump were getting at.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 5 points 22 hours ago

"God has a plan!"

The plan: Turn on cruise control and fall asleep

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They want the world to end because they think it’ll rapture them into heaven and they’ll be pampered for all eternity. They WANT bad leaders who will stir up the Israelites, etc.

They want a nuclear war. They think the Bible prophecizes it.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I don't think that's a generally true description. I'm sure there are some amount of people for whom that applies but I don't think most people who classify themselves as Christians would agree with those statements.

[–] Aaron@lemmy.nz 4 points 21 hours ago

Maybe not the Christers (Christmas and Easter church goers) but the weekly+ faithful do. It's way more common than you'd think.. unless you are one of them, and then it's exactly as often as you'd think, and I was one of them. The number of them there multiple times a week who not only believe the end of days is a good thing but actively pray and donate and vote for it to come faster is significant.

How much for the brunch afterwards where you get to rip into a sub-minimum wage server at Olive Garden because you keep getting one breadstick more than the number of people at the table?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 22 hours ago

you keep getting one breadstick more than the number of people at the table?

Don't get me started that barely enough for just me

Last time he tried to hide it. This time he is being completely open about the fact that he is for sale because he believes that he is untouchable.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 93 points 1 day ago

Because he is. The GOP has all three branches of government, a good chunk of state legislatures and governors, and a media sphere that's indifferent to actively complicit in helping to cosign whatever he does.

[–] inv3r5ion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He tried to hide it last time?

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

yes. the onslaught is going to be far more intense this go around

[–] inv3r5ion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That was sarcasm, he didn’t hide anything. He’s openly corrupt and no one with any power cares.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

no for sure. i got that. but you still hit on a terrifying truth. he was trying to hide it before. there was at least some reason for him to act like he wasn't who he is. this time there's none of that

[–] inv3r5ion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hide what? he’s been an openly corrupt and fascist piece of shit since the 90s or maybe earlier.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 day ago

exactly. that was him trying to act like he wasn't the monumental piece of shit informed people know him to be. he's going to be so much more intense this time

[–] RandoMcRanderton@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Come and worship! The god of money demands an offering!

Private prison orgs are already making plans to construct concentration camps for anyone the orange diaper baby considers foreign. Literally becoming Hitler

Classic Air received a contract worth $880 million from 2017 to 2023 for charter flights. In fiscal year 2023, nearly 149,000 noncitizens were transported by charter flight, according to ICE.

Holy fucking shit, they're making nearly $6000 per immigrant they shuttle around or deport. And the ~~concentration camps~~ prisons will make even more. They just have to pay for bare minimum "food" and the labor cost of a few thousand people who couldn't get hired as cops. Classic Air was paying for maintenance and fuel for a fleet of aircraft.

I fucking give up folks.

[–] andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 day ago

Not state-owned tho! The free market would decide!

[–] snekerpimp@lemmy.world 52 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Waiting for Jesus to come in and start flipping tables

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Jesus and Luigi would end up sharing a cell.

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Jesus probably wouldn't survive the arrest

[–] Tyfud@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, him being a PoC and all.

Not only a POC, but middle eastern. They'd claim he was a terrorist and shoot him the moment he started speaking.

Honestly, at this point if they're still stupid enough to pay it, good luck to him. He's shown time and time again who he is, so I have no sympathy for them.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago

They're not stupid. They know exactly what they are paying for -- power and influence. I'd love to get in the minds of people attending this event and see how many actually believe their religion.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Whenever you think he has finally hit moral rock bottom, he manages to go another mile deeper.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Let's not pretend it's Trump doing this. He's a wet piece of clay to be molded by the owner class in whatever shape they desire. All he wants is to eat his burgers and fish sandwiches in luxury and stay out of a cell. That and revenge on his enemies. I would say he also wants to fuck but I really doubt his dick still works.

[–] Ab_intra@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He hit that a long time ago.

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That tiny spot of light, waaaay up there? That's yesterday's rock bottom.

American fundamentalists: "OMG, he's literally Jesus but better! 🥰"

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Uh... people? At this point, I risk even the Devil itselt is sitting in bewilderment of the amount of lunacy this character is capable of.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 1 day ago

Devil sheds a tear

"That's my boy."
