Ironically, I can't find the words to describe how much I hate these "text as an image" memes. Does it really have more impact for people if they read the same words on a square picture?

Yes it does. People look at pictures first and if the picture has text, they read that text first. Just be glad, we haven't moved to TikTok-like short video format yet
