After the US elections, we already know what's on the other side of that door and it's not good.

an idiot criminal, with more than 30 convictions + a conceited selfish subnormal billionaire at his side, what could go wrong?

More jobs and cheap groceries? Gotta be more jobs and cheap groceries.

Monkeys paw curls:

Everyone now needs at least 2 jobs. Groceries are nominally cheaper through massive shrinkflation.

German election on it's way which isn't good either

Well, here in Spain it goes somewhat better as in Germany, because our Gov is way more prepared and intelligent as the German "Ampel", it's red-red, our "FDP" Ciudadanos, since years is out of the parliament.

2024 was kind of a break. It wasn't that bad (comparatively), a few things happened that brought us hope, a lot of things happened that suggest things are going to get much worse

Might be the best year of the decade, honestly

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

It was not my fucking year. But all the shit I had to deal with was on a personal level so that was actually fairly refreshing.

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 days ago

This and last years maybe the best for the rest of your life.

[–] AnnaFrankfurter@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 days ago

Covid really taught people a good lesson to be cautious of new years.

[–] Mango@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

What do you mean I failed a perception check?

[–] _lilith@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah. We know it's going to be bad. Its gonna be a fight no matter what so fuck it, lets get to it.

the only way is through. The faster we get there the faster it's over

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I hope I make it through.

Imagine the jump scare as they decided to look behind themselves... Why? Because the monsters come not from behind that door, the monsters come from behind that people. A haunting, haunted past, whose curse follows the arrow of unstoppable time, as the new year comes with all the consequences from the past years. Creepy new year.

Cool. Reminded me of a quote by Karl Marx that I saw referenced in lemmy. Searched for it:

Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past. The tradition of all dead generations weighs like an nightmare on the brains of the living.
