Rant
A place where you can rant to your heart's content.
Rules :
- Follow all of Lemmy code of conduct.
- Be respectful to others, even if they're the subject of your rant. Realize that you can be angry at someone without denigrating them.
- Keep it on Topic. Memes about ranting are allowed for now, but will be banned if they start to become more prevalent than actual rants.
Options:
- Leave the country. You can eventually renounce your US citizenship but in the meantime if you pay foreign taxes you won't have to pay US taxes as well.
- Claim on your W2 for your job that you have an exemption so no money is deducted, and then don't pay. Obviously this eventually catches up with you.
- Don't make more than the bare minimum to avoid taxes.
- Start a business that is cash only.
Point 1 is wrong. As long as you are a US citizen, Uncle Sam requires you to pay taxes on any income.

No, actually I am right (and so are you!) but there are details here that matter. Your foreign income is indeed subject to US taxes BUT if you pay foreign taxes you can claim the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE) that will in most cases eliminate your US tax liability. You will NOT be double-taxed on the same income.
