Fascists and the right in general have a way of coming together in solidarity and organizing to fight successfully for their causes in the real world and obviously they are having an effect. We don't have the money they have, that's a given and that limits things, no doubt. But we as leftists, must find ways to organize in ways that match the fascists. Subversion of their goals is our goal. The class and culture war is in full effect and we must not be complacent. "They got the bombs but we got the guillotine." We need organizing principles and ways to defend the marginalized in the real world. Ideas or advice for people looking to support progressive causes?

The main component you have to deal with is exhaustion. Whether mental or physical, nobody is able to sustain a continuous fighting mindset. The longer the fight, the higher the odds people will burn out and drop all resistance.

Second component is outing infiltrators looking to do the above and destroy your movement from the inside out.

Third component is avoiding radicalization due to the above as it will turn your movement from a reasonable position to a fringe extreme.

Fourth component is to avoid becoming a cult. Ideas are good, but don't fanaticise over them. Not everyone thinks the same and there's always a conflict of ideas.

Fifth component is understanding that people die and their experience and knowledge isn't inherited in full by the next generation, so avoid gathering around a central figure you can't do without.

Sixth component is to find a way of communicating without communicating out loud. Rather than super secret spy stuff, it means having a set of guidelines for people to follow if things don't go according to plan rather than have them panicking.

Seventh component is having conviction. Don't bother doing something like this if you don't believe in it. Doubt will creep in even when you're wholeheartedly dedicated to something, let alone when you're just paying lip service.

Feel free to change or add as desired.

Organize literally anything. Your workplace, a weekly discussion with friends, your apartment, your community, a clothing swap, etc. What do you care about? Start organizing around it.

I mean, arm and train. That's what it always boils down to.

It doesn't matter if you're trying to prevent a takeover, resist one that's underway, or are attempting to serve as a resistance after a takeover, there is never any other answer.

If each and every person isn't ready and willing to fight, then it's already over before you start getting to organize. That means being armed, training to use those arms, and being willing to use them if it becomes necessary. Anything else is a circlejerk.
