The mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, home to the largest concentration of Arab Americans in the US, has said that local police would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he stepped foot in the city.

Abdullah Hammoud shared his statement on X shortly after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants on Thursday for Netanyahu, his former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, and a senior Hamas leader in Gaza, Mohammed al-Deif.

The US is not beholden to the ICC because it is not a signatory to the Rome Statute, a treaty that established the court in 1998. There are 124 countries that are state parties to the Rome Statute, including Canada, the UK, and the European Union.

Oh yea man I am sure Netanyahu is shaking in his boots and seething with impotent rage for being unable to visit Dearborn.

Didn't you hear Dearborn is a hotbed of antisemitism and just revealed itself as a Hamas headquarters?

Isn't it just empty rhetoric? Was he ever planning on visiting Michigan, let alone Dearborn?

I too will arrest Netanyahu if he steps foot in my home.

It does take a lot of guts to say what this mayor said. If every city would follow this example Netanyahu would not be able to visit the US anymore. The statement is moreso symbolic. One has to be the first to cross this bridge.

Good, but to be quite honest you have more jurisdiction to arrest Joe Biden or Kamala Harris for breaking US domestic law.

Joe Biden is breaking US law every day that he does not ban all weapons to Israel. Every US politician that’s voted for these weapons sales is also breaking the law.

And also you should’ve done that like 2 weeks ago, there’s no fucking way any of them are ever going back there.

Edit: Hell, your best bet is to arrest Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, she does have reason to be in your jurisdiction and is also complicit.

Joe Biden is breaking US law every day

You don't need to worry about him, our glorious court system has determined he's immune from those pesky 'laws'

oh yeah that

Yeah you should’ve arrested Kamala Harris like 2 weeks ago when she was there

The VP has absolutely no control over the situation.

He'd get promptly executed by a lone extremist gunman who'd promptly kill himself before he could say "hold up my buddies at the CIA said-".

Nice sentiment tho.
