When you get roasted for not being progressive by the taliban

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 86 points 5 days ago (5 children)

I mean......they're trolling, but they also aren't wrong. America have now twice ran a female candidate against trump, and twice lost. People forget that trump did not run for president 3 times. He's run for president 5 times.

That means he's lost 3 times when his competition were men. He won both times his competition were women. With the latest round even getting the popular vote.

America is sending a clear signal that they DON'T want a woman as president. Whether you personally agree or not, is irrelevant. People made their choices heard at the polls this past week. The results have shown that we want a facist dictator to rule with an iron fist, who's in charge of everything. Who appoints lifelong judges. Who decides how overseas wars will be handled. With no red tape. With no restrictions. With no checks or balances.

America twice were given the choice of him, or a woman. Both times, they chose him. This will completely set women candidates back 20 years. AOC, Elizabeth Warren, these are people who just watched any chance they had in the distant future of being president vanish in 1 night.

This is not an invasion. I don't see any evidence of election tampering. I don't see any fraud. I only see a stupid public. Nobody forced this on us. We chose this. America chose this.

If you've seen any of my other long winded posts the past few days, yes I am repeating myself. I'm just in shock that America chose this.

So, the taliban saying America isn't ready for a woman.....they aren't wrong. They're assholes, and they're absolutely trolling. But they aren't wrong. America chose this.....

America have now twice ran a female candidate against trump, and twice lost. People forget that trump did not run for president 3 times. He's run for president 5 times.

Uh... He literally didn't, though. He participated in two primaries before 2016, but he never actually ran as the presidential nominee for any party. Trump won twice and lost once, and coincidentally that once was the one time the DNC ran a serious candidate with a real platform that appealed to voters against him. The similarity that the two times they ran fucking jokes they were both women is simply not anything more than correlation here.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 5 points 5 days ago
  • Correlation != Causation
  • It's a small sample size
  • Consider the source poking fun - are they interested in a proper diagnosis to fix the issue, or merely casting aspersions? Don't allow them to "control the conversation", even borne out of grief rather than malice.
  • Frankly, Kamala Harris might have done better than Joe Biden, due to factors including his age and direct involvement in the situations such as Israel - she may not have sufficiently distanced herself from him, but he would have had a significantly harder time distancing himself from himself, especially given as he seemed to not plan on changing anything about his approaches.
  • I'm not convinced that "Trump won" so much as "Democrats lost", though not quite in the same sense as the last time with Clinton. Disinformation campaigns were in full force, combined now with (partial) shutting down of more traditional avenues of news, some possibly politically related, others sadly could be due to pure greed, e.g. Biden spent months working with railway workers who wanted to strike, but the media hardly mentioned that (Lemmy is an odd mixture combining both sources of disinformation / alternative "facts" as well as alternate avenues to find real information such as that).
  • Separately from all of that, yes many Americans seem not keen on the idea of a woman as President. But it may be difficult to separate that from all of the other factors. Though those factors are not entirely unrelated either, bc conservatives love to "divide" the population, whereas liberals try to "unite" it, and yet ironically that did not work out all that well when it came time to vote. Also, part of what I'm saying is that while Harris may not have lost due to her being a woman, yes the likes of AOC may be prevented from winning in the future due to being such - and yet she leans more towards Bernie Sanders, who likewise kept losing, even as a man? We probably all should rewatch the Innuendo Studios' The Alt Right Playbook, or watch the first time if someone hasn't seen it yet. For those people: the plug for it is that it will help make sense of what happened to have led us here, as well as what is about to come. TLDR for it: conservatives lie, it's what they do, and mostly they don't even know they are doing it, but it's up to us who are willing to see more clearly, and wake up to what's happening even as they dig their heads further deeper into the ground to hide from the truth.

He beat women three times technically if you count Nikki Haley

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Trump beats women repeatedly. Now there's a headline....

[–] HonoraryMancunian@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

People forget that trump did not run for president 3 times. He's run for president 5 times.

OOTL foreigner here. When were the other 2 times?

[–] hobovision@lemm.ee 4 points 5 days ago

He's conflating losing miserably in the primary with losing the general election after being nominated (beating men and women to the nomination).

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 31 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Instead Americans handed the country over to a felon, rapist, liar, infidel and pedophile.

[–] uranibaba@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (3 children)

The first three I knew of, but not the last two. What are those about?

He was pretty open about his disdain for religion before he became a Republican, and has shown little beyond lip service to Christianity after.

And as for the pedophilia stuff, he hung out with Epstein a lot and was known for barging into the Miss Teen USA dressing room unannounced, so...

[–] Estiar@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He's been married a number of times and he's cheated even more times. Can't say for certain what the last one is, but he's been in Epstein's circles

[–] LANIK2000@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Besides Epstein he also can't stop making sexual remakes when his daughter is too close to him and openly brags about how he was allowed to walked in on teen girls in the changing room. It's really not that hard to find examples, the guy won't shut the fuck up about it!

[–] wanderer@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (3 children)

That's not what an infidel is.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

infidel

infidel /ĭn′fĭ-dəl, -dĕl″/ noun

  1. An unbeliever with respect to a particular religion, especially Christianity or Islam.
  2. One who has no religious beliefs.
[–] wanderer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Right, and that's inconsistent with:

He’s been married a number of times and he’s cheated even more times.

[–] Zoot@reddthat.com 2 points 4 days ago

But it is what infidel[ity] is!

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 1 points 5 days ago

He's certainly lying about his level of devotion to Christianity, but I'm not sure he's an unbeliever.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

And yet the taliban must keep women covered up in case they involuntarily get a boner. Some people are rapists without self control.
