Just straight up saying "IF we win you can go back to brunch and things will be normal again".

Also lol they're still doing "We need a strong Republican Party".

The browser ate my alt text but this is Mayo Pete saying something like "A vote for a Harris is a vote to get politics out of everyone's fa

I HATE "NONPOLITICAL" POLITICAL RHETORIC

I HATE "NONPOLITICAL" POLITICAL RHETORIC

[–] hotcouchguy@hexbear.net 36 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why's there so much politics in our politics these days?

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 29 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

I hate hearing random people in public complaining about "things getting so political these days." grill-broke

Being "nonpolitical" even in a performative way is basically impossible when there's a fierce culture war whenever a feeemale charater in a work of fiction doesn't look exactly like a boring reactionary cishet asshole's spank bank material.

[–] sweatersocialist@hexbear.net 17 points 2 months ago

to be fair if i can't cum to a video game made for kids then it IS white genocide (which is real and happening)

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

Nonpolitical always means reactionary, always has and always will

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Democracy is when you don't pay attention to politics and have no say in politics and trust all political decisionmaking to the people who keep fucking up so bad that the next election is the most important election ofyour lifetime and democracy is on the ballot.

Get politics out of your face and what happens? Increase in oil drilling. Roe v wade still overturned. "Critical race theory" or anything that makes cuckservatives uncomfortable removed from schools, build up to major conflict with china/russia. Continuing genocide. Whats that these dems like saying? There's no going back?

In a little over a decade, the most important election ever will be between mr-beast as the harm reduction candidate and heated-gamer-moment running on the Make The Immigrant Death Arenas Great Again platform.

Personally, I'm doing the opposite of whatever this guy says because I assume he's trying to manipulate me into giving him my dog.

And the fun part is that even if someone just wanted to go back to brunch, this isn't even true! The right always keeps getting more rabid and insane, usually more so in the situation of being in opposition to a hollow centrist regime.

The fact that these centrists just want to "turn down the temperature on politics" means they don't actually address any deep structural issues or make real change. So it is just 4 more years of them holding the bag on these crises, and the rabid right's job is made easier since they can just criticize shortcomings with some appeals to bigotry in place of solutions.

Oh yeah, htere's never any discussion, anywhere, ever, or even consideration, of systematically dismantling the GOP in a way that would prevent it from ever taking power again.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

They just hope that people with rhethoric like poisoning the blood goes away like that. The adults in the room thinking going under the covers and the bogeyman will go away

[–] JealousCactus@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Joe Biden's whole pitch was that he would return normalcy and get the Republicans to act normal

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

And it would have worked if it wasn't for Trump doggirl-gloom

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Get politics out of everyone's face and back where it belongs - behind closed doors with CIA cutouts and reps of the haute bourgeois

[–] abc@hexbear.net 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

can't believe there's an electoralism megathread for the election in the ELECTORALISM COMM which should be the one sub happy to take any and every electoralism thread, but every other comm has 100 electoralism centered posts on the daily.

FREE THE ELECTORALISM COMM I SHOULD BE ABLE TO POST MULTIPLE THREADS ABOUT VOTE COUNTS TOMORROW NIGHT INSTEAD OF BEING SUBJUGATED IN A MEGATHREAD angry-place

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I vote that @abc@hexbear.net be allowed to make as many posts as he wants in the electoralism com

[–] abc@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

NO you NEED to vote for the comm to be opened back up for electoralism posts about the election in general or else you're basically voting for it to be confined to the megathread & everywhere else on the site....so you're against me and everything i'm standing for on this site i guess?? please please vote for the comm to be opened, don't waste your vote...

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

I'm voting for beanis as a protest vote

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago

I would like both parties, normal or not, cease to exist.

[–] SupFBI@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago

“I just wanna grill for God’s sake!” - an actual politician

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago (2 children)

AOC said something like that, too. Something like "I'm so ready to not have to do four years of resistance nonsense". It was just like, are you fucking serious?

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

"I just want to be able to go along with everything without having to drop the mask!"

[–] ryepunk@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

It's hardly surprising these are the same super assholes who think that capitalism can work as long as you put 20,000 pounds of restrictions and safeguards on it to make sure it doesn't melt the planet down in an effort to sell more fossil fuels... Oh wait that already happened?

Yeah definitely wouldn't want a weak republican party then the Dems would actually have to do the things instead of just running in place forever.

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago

The interesting thing is that it's not politics in people's faces, but the hysterical screaming of the news, so it's saying "We will stop harassing you if our guy is in charge" but disguising the perpetrator of the harassment.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago

Shit like this is what makes it clear Democrats don’t actually give a shit about winning. If they wanted to win they’d keep the Republican Party as unhinged as possible so they could continue to run on “it puts the neoliberalism on its skin or it gets the fascism again.” Having a “normal” Republican Party would absolutely nuke their chances of winning as they’ve erased any daylight between themselves and the Liz Cheneys of the GOP.
