They literally said that they hope people lose thier homes over this and they're going to prolong it at least until October.

Fuck them.

It's definitely about money in the long term.

The big players need a full clean out. Ideally the strikers start independent studios and never go back, or at least have a short term renaissance before the cycle begins again. These large corporate entities are meaningless trash and they need to be crippled.

I guess what they would understand is mass stock sell-off? I don't know. Whats the best strategy for making CEOs want to off themselves?

I'd like the government to use it as a reason to break up the vertical monopolies too.

There's no reason that an actor's strike should have anything to do with your internet service provider. But, it might because Comcast owns NBCUniversal which owns Universal Studios. That means that everything between an actor and your eyeballs might be owned by one single company.

Because many ISPs have regional monopolies, it means that if Comcast added an item to their bill for "crushing the strikes" many people really wouldn't have any option other than to pay it.

Comcast shouldn't own NBC or Universal. Disney shouldn't own ABC or ESPN or Photobucket or Sky or Marvel.

I very much agree.

Just fyi, that infographic is very out of date, still lists entities like Sky, who have been part of Comcast over 5 years now.

Actually, I don’t know how they ended up there. Disney didn’t own Fox until after Fox sold their stake in Sky. Makes me question the data set the designer used.

https://www.wgaeast.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2023/05/WGA_proposals.pdf?link_id=1&can_id=a09a8f649a17770eaee0da640da3fdc0&source=email-wga-on-strike-2&email_referrer=email_1901631&email_subject=wga-on-strike

I'm curious where they got 47 million from. The bottom of this document subtracts out to 347 million.

I wholeheartedly support the WGA in their endeavor, both for their own sake and because a rising tide lifts all boats. But I don't understand their math here.

Why do they capitalize every word in that tweet?

Because it's a headline. Typically headlines are all caps
