Farmers markets are a good way to start. Learn the food that grows best near you as well as any native plants.

Wild rice is so fucking good and extremely nutritious. My grandpa used to cube up beef and fry it then cook wild rice in the pot and just go to town on it while cussing in Ojibwe while watching baseball. Great dude.
