Worth noting that what she said more than just hinting like the headline suggests. She's directly stating it should be legalized

"We have come to a point where we have to understand that we need to legalize it and stop criminalizing this behavior," Harris said on an episode of the "All the Smoke" podcast released on Monday

Also worth noting that as senator she also co-sponsored legalization in 2018 that would've fully legalized weed

It really wouldn’t take much to surpass Biden on this. Easy win

Legalize all drugs or get out of here its such a common sense solution.

You’re getting too many downvotes. We need some kind of regulation to prevent phentanyl from getting into everything.

We need a robust addiction support network to go along with that, but, yes: illegalizing drugs causes more problems than it solves. Legally regulated and sold drugs ensure quality and provide confidence that what the consumer is getting (and ingesting) is what they think it is.

I keep hearing about it in the news and even signs in public places. Why is is everywhere?

[-] RarePossum@programming.dev 6 points 2 days ago

Its cheap and potent so suppliers cut other drugs with it to increase potency and hide quality issues

Like real pharmaceutical companies or the street variant?

[-] RarePossum@programming.dev 6 points 2 days ago

Street variant. The dosage needed to get high or overdose is so small that its much easier to smuggle in compared to other drugs

AFAIK the medically its only really used for anesthesia which is usually used under controlled conditions and makes responding to very easy, especially when there's OTC drugs that reverse opioid overdoses, though fentanyl can take multiple dosages to reverse
