/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

Fun will now commence.

I expected an upvote to come out of his phaser there. Still having Reddit flashbacks or whatever, I guess.

EDIT: Here ya go

I too miss highqualitygifs :(

[–] jawa21@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

!high_quality_gifs@lemmy.sdf.org

But I'm the only one that has even tried to post there

[–] lurker8008@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

I do miss the good old days before shit went down. That sub and others bollywoodrealism were amazing

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 54 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That's a fancy maneuver! In the air, pulls out the phasor, moves it to the right hand, all while trying not to trip on that bar. (I would faceplant)

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Do we know how many takes that took?

[–] Tippon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 56 points 1 month ago

Let's just say that his forehead was smooth when they started

[–] RunningInRVA@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It’s insulting that you insinuate he needed more than 1.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 10 points 1 month ago

It was 3, but the insinuation is still insulting.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

No offense because that does look like a difficult jump but the phaser was in his left hand the whole time. He does not pull it out. He then lands and takes a step before moving it to his right hand.

Dorn is wonderful but just want the proper attribution of events here. 🖖

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 21 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Listen. The whole thing is a magical ballet.

[–] ChronosTriggerWarning@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Agreed. The flailing like a deer on a frozen lake was the chef's kiss.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 9 points 1 month ago

Lol that's a perfect description, I love it

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

No argument here!

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can't see it until after/during his landing on my phone, I'll accept your sequence of events.

I'd still faceplant the jump.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Me too. 🥴

It's like meeting someone in an empty desert.

You go through life secretly liking Trek while everyone around you either doesn't know about the show or have heard of it and think it's some kind of nerdy thing from the past. Or they think there's something wrong with you for liking a terribly made show in their opinion.

Then you meet a stranger who likes Trek and wants to talk about it.

You jump over a railing, flail your arms in the air, and land with both feet, then with a serious look point at them ..... and ask which series do they like the most.

You have found your people

heard of it and think it's some kind of nerdy thing from the past.

This just happened to me on Saturday.

Somewhat related, I was in a company Christmas party, got hot and removed my ugly sweater (for the ugly sweater competition, of course), revealing my Weyland-Yutani tee-shirt. A coworker immediately pointed at it “Ooh, Weyland-Yutani!” then grabbed his wife while pointing and they both showed me their matching Alien Xenomorph tattoos. Fun all around.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

That's beautiful.... great way to meet new friends

[–] teft@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

a terribly made show

[–] negativenull@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This, but I likely miss the landing and face plant first

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

But still get up with a broken nose to mutter ...

".... UHHH LUNK TREK DAR? .... " .... then pass out in embarrassment

Everyone knows about the Riker Maneuver.
But you never knew of the Worf Waltz before!

Sacrificed the high ground 😔

I'd say Tasha is the one that goofed. Worf would be better in hand to hand combat so should be in front in case it came to that while Tasha covers him from a higher position while also guarding the turbo lift.
