All things about Fallout series.

I have a 3080 ti w/ 16 GB of RAM and an 4+ ghz processor. It generally chews through any game at the moment and I was wondering what if any mods exist for Fallout 4 that can improve upon the base game in a way that makes it feel more modern/exciting. I've done some Googling and found some modifications for things like weather, lighting, and blood. Anyone recommend one or more mods?

Sun Settlements 2 is super popular and for good reason if you’re into the settlement building stuff. It really makes the settlements feel more like vibrant communities.

The story throughout it is fun and I think it has pretty good voice acting. The gameplay tweaks are interesting and there’s some fun characters throughout. Definitely give it a shot if you’re the kind of player who likes the settlements, but wish they could go a little further.

I use Start Me Up, which is fun if you want to roleplay. It lets you choose where to start, and it works in the main quest with tweaked dialogue.

Most of the rest of mine have to do with settlements and crafting. Armorsmith Extended and Universal Clothing Overhaul are my favorites. Place Anywhere does exactly what it sounds like, and best of all it lets you move things up and down and toggle the snapping features on and off.

The 2k color map on nexus mods is essential for me, and it has all locations posted so you don't waste a lot of time searching. I also highly recommend looking at console commands to customize character looks, increase your carry weight, etc. The game has so much to do but those little features make it fun for me.

Apologies about resurrecting the post from its grave.

If you have a Nexus Mods subscription (only because it automates everything, otherwise you'd be having a good amount of headaches) I strongly recommend A StoryWealth.

Absolutely elevates F4. Survival playthrough is the best way to go for it.

My experience hasn’t been great. Fallout 4 crashes on the regular and really killed my interest in modding it! I’ve wondered if the unofficial patch would address problems such as this but looks like I need to buy all DLC to apply it.

Which sucks, because this suggestion sounds great as well!

Since I installed the patch I've never (knocks on wood) encountered another crash. Considering that the current version of A StoryWealth has around 600 mods, plus some others that I like, I'd say it's a great improvement.

But yes, you'd need all the DLCs.

This is an old conversation, but wanted to let you know I picked up the GOTY edition on Steam and now installing A Storywealth. Wil play it on Survival.

Hope you enjoy it!

If you intend to play on survival id reccomend the following (as best i can remember)

Journeys - lets you fast travel along caravan lines and gives more reason to build up settlements in the commonwealth

A sleeping bag mod -i dont remember the name of it something like camping kit. But basically it let you carry around a sleeping bag so you could stop and make a save in a semi reasonable way. The game is too unstable to play survival without this in my opinion.

K9 harness - buff dogmeats carrying capacity

Sim settlements is pretty dope if you dont want to deal with building every settlement yourself

Oh and i almost forgot - More where that came from - adds 100+ sound/style appropriate songs to diamond city radio

All of these suggestions are great. I'm learning how to apply these mods. One I'm bummed about is the Unofficial Fallout 4 patch--apparently I need to own all the DLC to apply it? Game has already crashed before the prologue was over :(
