https://lemmy.world/c/upliftingnews is a good community to add to your subscriptions if you'd like a regular dose of good news! Good news is out there, it's just much harder to find than bad news these days.

!upliftingnews@lemmy.world might be a better link to use.

Didn't they just ban a political party for criticising the royal family and also ban weed again? This was definitely unexpected news.

They didn't ban weed again. They were considering to ban it again, but recently decided not to

give the supreme court more time to backslide

[–] jimmy90@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

for some reason i'm surprised they were first

[–] CodingCarpenter@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I would think this would have happened sooner. Considering one of the stereotypes is their proclivity for trans females

[–] jimmy90@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

true, although i thought maybe china would be first

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

What, they like their trans females in china too?

first in SEA but second if you consider general asia (Taiwan was first). iirc Thailand gets a handful of gay tourists which really helps with their tourism numbers from the other countries who either have it banned or its a dont ask dont tell situation. heres an article that covers it in the past 5 years

Did they make a giant rainbow slide to roll a giant rainbow ball down?

That's awesome. I hope it's on video somewhere. It reminds me of playing with a parachute in elementary school.

Nice to see news from Thailand that isn't about their shitty royals.
