J.D. Vance brushed off Laura Loomer’s racist comments, despite being married to an Indian American woman.

J.D. Vance would apparently rather protect Donald Trump’s decision to pal around with self-described “proud Islamophobe” and 9/11 conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer than stand up for his own wife.

Trump has been seen with Loomer several times over the last couple of weeks, with the pair getting eyebrow-raisingly close (Trump’s hand has been spotted in the small of Loomer’s back) while Melania Trump has largely remained out of the limelight. Loomer attended a 9/11 memorial service with Trump and also accompanied him to the presidential debate.

In an interview Sunday with NBC News, Vance was asked directly about his and his wife Usha Vance’s opinions on some of Loomer’s overt racism, including her claim that Vice President Kamala Harris’s ascendency to the Oval Office would make the White House “smell like curry.” But Vance wouldn’t take a stand against the alt-right ally.

“Do I agree with what Laura Loomer said about Kamala Harris? No, I don’t,” Vance continued. “I also don’t think that this is actually an issue of national import. Is Laura Loomer running for president? No. Kamala Harris is running for president, and whether you’re eating curry at your dinner table or fried chicken, things have gotten more expensive thanks to her policies.”

He defends a racist by using a racist statement. And Republicans don't even blink.

[Deleted due to community feedback]

Edit: i didn't make it clear enough. This is parody combining the racist shit JD just said with the racist shit Trump said previously. In no way does this reflect my actual viewpoint.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

This is wildly racist, and also full of shit. She went to a historically black university, joined a black sorority, and has always been open about her dual Black/Indian heritage.

Your racist talking points aren't going to land here, fuckhead.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That was meant to be parody exaggerating the racist shit JD just said and combining it with the racist shit Trump said previously. I didn't make that clear enough, clearly. This does not reflect my viewpoint whatsoever.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think many of the people downvoting and/or reporting you (I did both) are aware that you're joking. The problem is that your joke isn't funny. It's wildly offensive and racist.

I get what you're saying, "I don't actually believe the racist stuff I said," but we're concerned with the part of that thought that you're glossing over: racist stuff you said. Probably should just delete your comment.

Just realize that comedy doesn't give you carte blanche to shout racist stereotypes and move on.

Humor wasn't the goal. Making apparent the racism of Vance and Trump's words was. If repeating back the racism someone else used in order to deride them somehow applies that same racist stigma onto me, I would argue that your priorities are misplaced. If I had directly quoted them and cited the quotation would the reaction have been the same? Because it amounts to the same level of disconnect from the words to me. But whatever. Not a hill I care to die on. I'll delete it. Didn't mean to upset anyone.

Props. (For admitting, apologizing, etc. Basically for being human and owning up instead of doubling down or just slinking off).

Maybe I'd be less forgiving if I saw the comment but your turnaround is rare and appreciated.

Wait. Did he just add the fried chicken to the reference? Loomers was just curry, wasn't it? Wtf JD

[–] Famko@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Next up he'll add watermelon too.

They love adding racist dogwhistles don't they?

[–] AugustWest@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

I think we can stop calling it a dog whistle when they start just saying it.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

If that's an impromptu response, that's a sort of natural racism that 4chan would be envious of.

Now that we’re discussing Laura Lamer and her presumed copulation with Diaper Drump….

What happened to Melanomia, that faded model and speech duplicater that happened to be the official wife? Anyone seen her in the last few months?

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 37 points 1 month ago

On one hand, Melania is a horrible person in her own right. On the other, I don't think any other single person has done more to humiliate and infuriate Cadet Bonespurs.

I liked it when she refused to move to Washington and when she made the White House look like a torture chamber for Christmas.

[–] Nuke_the_whales@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Melanie is likely doing what she truly loves. Shopping in Manhattan and spending time with Hans the yoga instructor, while Trump is far far away

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

More importantly, no more creepy comments about Ivanka. Now we know why: Ivanka is too old for Trump

[–] ShittyBeatlesFCPres@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

She has some sort of book coming out and is set to do dozens of interviews but I’m sure they’ll be extremely controlled publicity interviews where she just says cliches.

[–] WatDabney@sopuli.xyz 42 points 1 month ago (1 children)

More than anything else - more than an opportunist or a hypocrite or a liar or a fraud - Vance's primary attribute and defining characteristic really is simply that he's an asshole.

[–] catharso@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I tend to like assholes;

But not the person kind.

[–] binomialchicken@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Me too! My favorite is that some river turtles can breathe through their assholes.

[–] aStonedSanta@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

Learned about how platypuses are basically evolutionary champions yesterday and river turtles inhaling air through their assholes today. I love it here.

I'm not sure what's worse, him being a sellout or that his price is so stupidly low.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

Rather than take any ownership of his role in spreading false claims and incendiary rhetoric, Vance recoiled, saying that any suggestion that he’d been responsible for inciting the bomb threats in Springfield was “disgusting.” The Ohio senator scolded Bash for sounding like a “Democratic propagandist” as she called him out on his reckless lying.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Depending on his wife's level of patience, I give this guy at most two years before he gets divorce papers in the post.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

and when that happens, I guarantee she'll then be smeared all over the right wing news as some greencard grabber who only married him to infiltrate america.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And does anyone really think his wife isn't right there with him is selling out and endorsing the racism?

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

She's made very few appearances with him; largely following Melania's lead and staying out of everything as much as possible.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the moment they lose the election, she tells him to fuck off and divorces him. Privately she's likely disgusted to find out that her husband is a feckless sycophant who without hesitation would sell out his own family for an attempt at power.

[–] michaelmrose@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Did the motherfucker forget to add watermelon to the list? It's amazing that even when he isn't trying the racism just flows out like spit dripping down his lip

[–] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago

Laura Loomer does not peg Donald Trump, These rumors are completely unsubstantiated, we will find the people that are spreading the rumor that Laura Loomer pegs Donald Trump and tell them to stop the fake news!

[–] Marleyinoc@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Lots of Cucks for Trump in politics. Cruz was just the tip of the iceberg.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

There is no lie he won't tell if he thinks it might help him attain personal power

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

He knows the base wants him to do so.

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I see Vance has been trained well in the Trump tactic of "nothing I say or do influences people's actions and I have no responsibility as a federal candidate."

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Opportunists. Human pieces of shit.

[–] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Selling out your wife to advance your career is small town family values.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

They truly fear upsetting the angry orange in any way shape or form. Its as if he is their god.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Its the utter lack of corporate regulations and accountability that got us here. We need a SEC and DOJ with teeth that are actively pursuing the goal of protecting the American people. And we need our citizens secured, so that all of this foreign influence is less inducing because we are already taking care of them. Fucking hell, I feel like this is obvious. The only problem they are trying to solve here is how to get us to shut up in a way where they can keep their wealth and status.

[–] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

Adding insult to injury. Nice going, JD.
