Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Surprised to see so many but no Blackrocks or Vanguards

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

They don't make stupid emotional investments.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

I saw that and I once thought fidelity wasn't too dangerous with their investments.

[–] MataVatnik@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Huh, and even with all these partners/investors Elon still acts like he's the sole owner. Kinda surprised that they let him act like a dipshit

[–] astrsk@fedia.io 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

In a “too big to fail” scenario, guys like Musk make excellent fall guys for future platform leaders.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There is no world where fucking Twitter would deserve a bailout. Fail, and fail hard, Sir Memelord.

[–] astrsk@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Look at that list! That's the definition of "too big to fail". All those stakeholders will absolutely consolidate and shift power to protect their cash interests. Twitter is a MONSTER platform. Regardless of our pleb level opinions, they hold a TON of power especially as a political voice platform as well as pure user data tracking and ad platform. Musk will get booted for going to far one day and they'll find someone who's still controversial but not as weird as musk to replace as a "show of good faith" if that makes sense. Nobody is saying to bail out twitter, but the effective equivalent is that huge list of stakeholders above.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

"Too big to fail" meant that if that company failed it would have a real and bad impact on the entire economy.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago

I think it might be time for me to not ever use Fidelity ever again....

[–] sirmoosh@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 months ago

Jack Dorsey? He was fighting to keep Musk from taking over...

[–] Badeendje@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I'll bet we will see these companies translated to people pretty soon. That will be interesting.
