Five Palestine Action activists have been jailed for at least a year each for taking direct action against Israel’s war crimes.

The activists had occupied a weapons factory in Glasgow belonging to French arms firm Thales.

The company has a contract with Elbit Systems, which produces 85 per cent of drones used by the Israel Defence Forces.

Not sure these new Enid Blyton books capture the spirit of the originals.

Being more honest. 5 jailed for breaking in and occupieing a Glasgow weapons factory.

That shit gets you jail time no matter your cause.

When you take action like that you expect jail. And jail is part of your protest. Just like any illegal act done for a cause.

It's literally a breach of the law to be supplying weapons to a country engaging in human rights violations, war crimes and a possible genocide. That's why Lammy has buried the legal opinion which the Tories also sat on.

The government is the law breaker. The people going to prison are the ones upholding international law.

These fascists are really saving me some money.

Huh?

Why are you righting one of the most ardently left-wing places in the country off exactly?

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
