Possibly an oft asked question. Is usenet used beyond binaries and downloads? Or is it just a ghost town now? Got a feeling I already know the answer though.

It's a place that is haunted. Hurt by the past. Small communities of friends who are ghosts. They hide obscurified in the noise to talk. Mumblings of a distance past of which they refuse to let go of because there, self hosted, they are beholden to none of this world.

I'll post a list of active communties for you, not at my primary machine. Felt poetic. All are welcome. Some groups are dormant for what the internet considers ages however some replys are worth the wait. :)

What are you looking for beyond downloads? It’s definitely not a ghost town in that regard.

Edit: I was curious so I looked it up: https://www.maketecheasier.com/best-usenet-newsgroups/

Sounds like OP is looking for the message boards of yore. Arguing about X-Files theories and so forth.
