From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

My Laptop at work is Latitude 7430 and i'd like to switch from Windows to Linux (any distro is fine). Now i have tried Ubuntu, openSUSE and Manjaro to no avail, due to the insane lag on the integrated screen. When running on the Live ISO over USB everything seems to be working fine, the screens attached to the docking station are recognized properly and the integrated screen is not lagging. As soon as i install to disk and reboot into the new system, the issues start: laggy integrated screen (it's updating in the background but the output seems to be 2-3 seconds behind somehow) & screens attached to the docking station only become available after replugging. Now i thought maybe it's a x11 issue and tried wayland, no difference. Same goes for switching from KDE to GNOME.

Anyone got a working Latitude 7430 + docking station + Linux setup or got some tips on trouble shooting?

does the docking station happen to have a display link chip in it? they give a lot of problems in my experience. it requires a separate driver
