The English chemically castrated the guy who broke the Nazi codes that let us win the war, he killed himself over it and England took 60 years to say "my bad".

There's some doubt over that. Accidental inhalation due to some of the lab equipment in his room has some compelling arguments too. The wikipedia article has the details.

The imitation game had such a good portrayal of it... I've known the story for a long time, but Benedict Cumberbatch really made it hit home
