Go to any sony focused community and its rampant. "PC gamers are crybabies" for finally putting our foot down on this bullshit, and "its fine when xbox makes me sign up for minecraft?" as if there wasn't pushback on that too.

Yup, I delayed moving my Mojang account to a Microsoft account. Honestly, it would've been enough for me to bail on Minecraft entirely (I've had my fill anyway, I've had it pretty much since launch ~15 years ago), but my kids really wanted to play so I moved it for them.

But Minecraft also isn't on Steam, you only get it from Microsoft or on a console. So it feels less bad than requiring a console login on a PC game. When I buy through Steam, I expect my Steam login to be sufficient. Companies like EA and Ubisoft pull this crap, which is a huge part of why I avoid their games.

If I buy a single player game on a platform, I should always be able to play that game on that platform. I understand needing a login for MP games, but they clearly showed that wasn't necessary for Helldivers 2, and they didn't demonstrate why it was all of a sudden necessary.
