Artificial intelligence (AI) is intelligence demonstrated by machines, unlike the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals, which involves consciousness and emotionality. The distinction between the former and the latter categories is often revealed by the acronym chosen.

Depends what AI.

Current AI's are dumb, and possess zero critical thought. They can improve speed and efficiency, and reduce costs, but only when applied with care. It's best to think of them more like outsourcing — when done poorly they will achieve the opposite of what they promise, and will completely destroy many businesses.

If/when General AI is achieved (probably decades if not centuries away), EVERY human role will be replaced; the only barrier would be the initial state of computing resources and robotics. The only roles which won't be replaced are the capitalists/owners — not because they aren't entirely replaceable, but because they're at the top of the food chain (until the GAI replaces them, which it will).
