This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Why are they doing this?
The site owners are terrified by the concept of the tankie Lemmy devs being able to just do... Unspecified tankie things to the site code. They can't come up with a good reason or an actual example, so it's just the same thing as red scare panic about Chinese aluminium today or Soviet iron in the past.
Totally baseless fear that somehow using software made by communists will give us some sort of nebulous control over them to do something nefarious.
On another note, we should use software to give us some sort of control over them.
I think that's what @ComradeOohAah@hexbear.net is working on.
The closest thing to putting tankie ideology in the code the devs ever did was having the slur filter be hardcoded in early lemmy versions.
