This guy is is obviously an idiot but I think that's a little disingenuous. Medical professionals who are not nutritionists receive less training than they should on many things, but to say zero like all doctors have no idea what carbohydrates and proteins are is just wrong.

well obviously they know the macro nutrients, but relative to their training in drugs, they do get essentially no education in nutrition.

Although nutrition education varies by school, a 2021 survey of medical schools in the U.S. and U.K., published in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, found that most students receive an average of 11 hours of nutrition training throughout an entire medical program. Part of this training is typically student-run, and it may include culinary classes.

you'd know more just by reading a book or two.

This is incredibly disingenuous. Nutrition is incorporated into most of the medical curriculum. Biochemistry is an entire course. I am involved in discussions with dieticians every day, frequently having to correct their misconceptions, not as the one getting corrected.

Furthermore it is quite simply not that complicated once you drill down past the bullshit and stick to what we actually know. Eleven hours is more than enough dedicated classroom time, once you account for the 4-5 outside hours spent reading in preparation per hour of discussion.

This is a hit piece written by people with an agenda, with all the subtlety of a nurse claiming she saves the lives of her patients every day by protecting them from the evil, cruel physicians. And this agenda is similarly complete bullshit.
