My cat needed to be euthanised last month, and I just received her ashes. They came with a round black sticker. What’s the purpose of this sticker?

They mentioned my chosen urn was suitable for sprinkling cremains (I don’t plan to do that) – maybe it’s related to that?

Thanks.

Is there a way I can tell? I’m pretty techy, but not familiar with that technology. It looks like a regular black sticker to me, and feels like it has a smooth finish. I tried looking that up and get nothing but sites trying to sell me nfc stickers.

NFC sticker would have a coil of wire as the antenna around a little bump in the middle which is the chip. https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=nfc+sticker

Your phone should be able to detect it.

Then it's not NFC, you would be able to hold it to the light and see a coil inside
