Now I'm not one of them there tech guys. I'm just a humble poster, and am neither a tech or a guy. But. Were I the public face of the website tumblr.com there is precisely one group of people with whom I would not engage negatively, and it would be gender and sexual minorities. I'm just putting it out there. After that it would be homestuck fans.
Bizarre that he’s even publicly engaging other users in this way. Like, if you’re the CEO, it’s maybe not the best idea to be getting into arguments, shitposting, telling the world your shitty opinions, etc.

Were CEOs trying to be “personal” with their customers? Or did this only occur after social media became the primary way of communication. Usually these people would just hire a PR agent and ghost write their statements.
They probably think that they are so endearing that can best handle these things themselves. It’s just a symptom of inflated ego
