There are lots of mods to original, that add quality of life, extra content and should work fine with win 10/11

HotA is awesome!

But the best way to play it is to use VCMI. It's an open source re-implementation of the original game for the modern hardware. It also have a built-in launcher which asks you automatically download HotA or WoG after the first start. You can also install other mods from it. So convenient.

GOG.com had it for pretty cheap last year and it worked as well on Win10 as I remember it working on Win95 (or was it XP? I forget). Point is, yes, you can get it for cheap on modern OS's and it's just as fun as it was in 2000
