I hadn't heard about this but it's baffling to me that anyone would complain about SBMM. Where's the fun in repeatedly beating up on weaker players, don't you want an actual challenge that matches your skill level? Can't you just like, play bots on easy mode over and over at that point?

They enjoy the experience of stomping becaus they view it as their right to stomp after “gitting gud”.

It’s just people tying up too much self worth in their skill at a game in my personal opinion.

The call of duty spaces online are full of them.

You can get invested in getting good at a game or sport, just don't get good at basketball and then get mad when they make you play other adults and won't let you play on a middle school basketball team lmao.

It’s wild. Activision doesn’t help matters by obfuscating how it works, not just using raw Elo, and patenting conspiracy fuel (no evidence it exists let alone is used).

It’s mostly just gamers not wanting to admit they aren’t as good as they thought they were.
