I actually recommend floorp browser. It's a Firefox, fork and it has a lot of the features of edge (but better) like the option to use edge's fluent design theme, the sidebar, where any website and select extensions can be added in a mobile format, and a fully customisable vertical tab layout, with tons of other options for tabs.

Does Floorp update when Firefox updates or does it require the Floorp devs to build in the FF updates?

Floorp is based on Firefox ESR. Floorp will be updated every 4 weeks, with security updates provided before each Firefox release.
