Can you point to something that explains how?
Hey, so here's how it works in theory.
On mastodon, Lemmy communities (not sure about Kbin magazines) show up as groups. But you have to replace the ! in their address with a @ to find them.
For example I can search for the Star Trek community (!startrek@startrek.website ) on Mastodon by searching for
@startrek@startrek.website
and follow it like so:New posts and comments will then show up in my Mastodon feed as boosts. I can reply to them and it'll appear on the Lemmy side too.
You can even make your own Lemmy posts from Mastodon, the first line of your toot will become the post title and the rest will be the body, you just need to tag the "group" in there somewhere.
Where it gets complicated and my knowledge falls down is that it seems like you can't always find every community by searching like the above example, and I'm not sure why. For example I just tried
@meta@lemm.ee
and had no luck. BUT some that I tried to find yesterday to no avail are now showing up this morning, so maybe there's just a delay in them getting indexed the first time you search for them ๐คทโโ๏ธAwesome. Looks like I'm able to find the communities but none of the old posts show.
Looking forward to see how this goes with new posts!
Thanks for explaining!
I'm not on mastadon, sorry
