You get how that's the same as not doing anything right? If you leave it in place all the time then daylight savings will break in the summer months and make it dark then.
Daylight savings is necessary because the time of sunrise and sunset changes over the course of the year it's exactly the same as having leap days to keep in sync with the orbit. Only cancels out 6 months later.
Daylight savings exists because it's easier to change the definition of time than it is to get companies to all alter their start and end times. Some companies would just not do it and it would be total chaos. Much easier for everyone just to stay in sync.
Anyway why do you care so much? Pretty much every phone and smart device just changes automatically so you hardly even notice anything has happened. Also I've just looked it up Minnesota is not that far north.
