Dont you see? Humanity is SO special and important that beings so advanced as to effectively be gods have traveled unfathomable distances to give blurry grainy images of their existence. I mean, we're the center of the solar system, and probably the universe too.

I would have assumed that they are unmanned. If they are extraterrestrial, I assume they would just be some explaratory craft sent in thousands or millions of different directions and eventually happened upon earth.
