A tool library is part of an expanded library of things in a library economy.
Sometimes also called, more broadly, a lending library.
Are there non-lending libraries? I thought we called those "museums" or "stores".
I also think of public libraries when I hear library; but technically yes. There are libraries where you can go read the material but not lend it out.
That's a good point! I suppose a makerspace might be an example of a non-lending tool library (like, you have to go there to use the tools) though I'm sure some do lend stuff out as well
True! I forgot that reference libraries are a thing.
