Anyone here considering getting the iPhone 15 pro max later this year? Is the potential price increase making you reconsider?

[–] RockinGamr99@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

I’ve never found a reason to buy a phone that large. I’m probably going to get the 15 Pro though since I need an upgrade.

[–] errer@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

The phone is just physically too large, so probably not.

I love my 13 Pro Max and if the 15 Pro Max has USB-C like all the rumors indicate then it’s a day one buy for me.

I’ve been loving the size of my 11/13/14 Pros the last few years and if USB-C is a reality I’ll definitely be getting a 15 pro. But if the rumors are true about only the 15 pro max having the new periscope camera, I will be tempted to jump up to the larger phone for that.

Curious, what’s the benefit to upgrading that quickly? iPhones can last a lot longer than a year, and what are you doing with the old ones?

[–] BoomBoomLemon@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Almost zero benefit. I finally started to just use the Apple Upgrade Program and effectively look at the phone as a rental. We get a credit from work to use a device as BYOD so it ultimately is nice to simply have a new phone all the time.

[–] SnowGlobal@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I agree they totally last longer, but I just like new tech and get excited about new releases. The excellent condition used phones have been used as upgrades for my parents or sold on swappa.

I might have considered upgrading my 13 mini if an equivalent new model comes out. I want a smaller pocketable size, whether that’s a mini or a clamshell foldable

I'm planning on moving from an 11 Pro to a 15 Pro, but not the Max versions, they're just to big for me.

[–] pbanana@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I had the same plan, but my 11 shit the bucket a week ago. I ended up getting the 14 PM, now I’m kinda glad I did.

[–] spittin_nickels@geddit.social 3 points 1 year ago

I personally just think the pro max line is too big. I’ll be sticking to the pro for now

[–] RealHumanBeann@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I decided to get the 14 Pro Max after years of using a regular sized phone. The last time I used a phone this big was the 7 plus. I gotta say I like the big size!

I probably won’t be upgrading any time soon though. Not until there’s a feature or upgrade that makes it really worth it.

I'm considering moving from the Pixel 6 back to an iPhone if USB-C is real. The last iPhone I had was the 5S and it was wonderful. I hated the design change and have been looking to go back since they squared off the sides again.

[–] Haha@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah I have because I got an iPhone XS Max, need an upgrade — but that price increase sucks..

[–] ironchips@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Like clockwork I buy every year irrespective of the price 😋

[–] mintberrycrunch@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I want the bigger screen but I don’t care about extra camera stuff at all. Might consider 15 plus but want to see what cpu they put in the 15/15 plus.

[–] ein@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Definitely considering it. I’ve always gone back and forth between Android and iOS, and most recently went back to android because I like being able to install apps that aren’t on the centralised App/Play Store. But since I’m in the EU and they are forcing some kind of alternative app store and/or side loading on Apple (at least for us in the union) I’m feeling that my main gripe with iOS is finally getting remedied.

[–] malloc@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’m a maybe. I’m waiting for the official release of features in September.

If going off of rumors though, I may pass. Nothing has been exciting in iPhone releases for the past 3-4 years.

[–] gramathy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I’m still on an 11 pro so usb-c might be the thing that convinces me

[–] GrouchyLady@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I am. I really wish the nicer camera came in the smaller phone, but I’m a sucker for a good camera.
