I'm also using Sync. The first time I loaded it, it was a garbagey jpg. The second time I loaded it, it was HD.
On Boost there's a little HD button to load the image in full quality. Maybe Sync has something similar? Otherwise open the post in a browser.
TIL about the HD button, solving a problem I've had since the "old" Boost. Thank you, kind stranger!
(My workaround was always the browser. Clumsy, but it worked)

Yeah, I'll double-check next time. It's just not a rare thing that people post low quality images.
Click on the post first, then open the image.
For whatever reason turn this off fixed low quality large images for me:
Settings shortcut: Media > Zoomable video
Wow I didn't have any issues with this post but disabling that setting made basically every picture way better in several small ways wtf
Zoomable video? Not the 50MB picture size limit?
Nope, still have that turned on. I really have no idea why that fixed it. I saw another user recommend it in another post and it worked.
