I've been away, but I skim lemmy every now and then. I noticed the uptick in start trek shit posts. I actually really like them. I don't really watch the show, but my friends are fans so I get some of the jokes. I even went to a con with my brother in law for his birthday. Besides something about Picards flute I had no clue what was happening, but the excitement was infectious.

I've been on the fringe of a few communities for quite some time, so I know how it feels to be constantly looking for a place you fit in. I'm glad you found yours op. Not going to say the thing, but all the best.

Not going to say the thing

WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THE THING‽

On a more serious note, I've seen a lot of comments on eg. !risa@startrek.website echoing the same sentiment, and many people who haven't really watched any of the Treks seem to enjoy the memery. I think it's somehow, I don't know, cute? Something about it just makes me go "aww" a bit, like here's us nerds making our nerdy little memes about our nerdy utopian space opera, and then even lots non-fans find something fun in those memes.

Agreed. I couldn't have put it better myself.

No. Say the thing. Say the thing or you don't mean it.
