I've got an alarm app on my phone, that requires me to solve 3 math problems to stop ringing. Then it waits 10 minutes and a message pops up for me to confirm that i'm still awake, otherwise it starts ringing again.

That sounds annoying as fuck. So the alarm starts blaring and you have to panic solve 3 maths problems while your room mates yell at you to shut your fucking alarm up

I mean, it is supposed to be annoying, but the alarm turns off temporarily when you start solving the questions. You can also set the difficulty, mine are nothing crazy, just x + y * z . Pretty easy, but hard enough that i can't solve them while half-asleep.

Keep in mind your alarm is the very first conscious moment of your day, your brain releasing shit loads of cortisol isn’t the best way to set yourself up. Ideally you want to replicate nature if you can. Phillips have a wake up light alarm clock that fades on over time. If you couple this with some bird sounds or relaxing music that fades on after it’s light it’s very easy to wake up. And if you wake up in the cold set a timer on a heater to turn on before you wake up to begin to raise your body temperature.

Sleep as Android does something similar.
