Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld erupted with dark rhetoric during Thursday's broadcast of "The Five," appearing to advocate for a new American civil war because “elections don’t work” and the nation is in “peril and chaos," the Daily Beast reports.

No, we're not. The fear-driven "news" media want you to think that

[–] Uranium3006@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

These guys are gonna do terrorist attacks

[–] ubermeisters@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Remember all those power station attacks a while back? Small probing type attacks to gauge response and measure effectivity, if you ask me. Not just "some rednecks shooting at transformers for fun".

Don't fall into the Trap of thinking that all the right wing is a bunch of toothless sister fuckers with zero brains. That's just the majority. It doesn't take more than 1 moderately intelligent asshat to make a LOT of bad days for others.

I'll never tell people to go buy guns. But I will tell you to buy some extra food and water, and a generator. And maybe some fabric to use for washable toilet wipes, since covid showed us wiping our asses is the only thing actually separating us from the other apes.

I’ll never tell people to go buy guns.

I will. In addition to the above shopping list, get a gun and learn how to use it. The best time to do this was back when Trump was campaigning for president in 2016 and things were starting to look a little too brownshirts. The second best time is now.

Everyone paid close attention to th Moore county NC incident

On both sides. If I'm them, I wait for winter when people need heat to survive.

I’ve thought we were fucked since the early 2000s, so I’m pretty sure the right wing media didn’t convince me. It was the telltale Constitution beating under the floorboards. Also, I assume you’re aware that your enemies can want you to believe things that also happen to be true?

Unfortunately, fear driven media and propaganda works on too many of us. That's why we are fucked.

I don't think any of us can actually tell to be honest. You're certainly not getting clear picture of the world around us in this echochamber that's for sure.

Edit: Lemmy, grow the fuck up please. Honestly. Downvotes aren't gonna change the fact that this is an echo chamber.(chamber... hamber...amber...mber ..ber....er...rrrrr)

As right as you are, you do have the problem of trying to tell a group of people who assume they are correct that they are wrong.

The only real method we have of figuring out right or wrong is to step away from keys and go places we normally wouldn't and talk with the locals. Unfortunately for me, I'm not really interested in places I wouldn't go. I'd rather go to places I love.
