I know this is probably BS, but part of me really hopes this is the opening salvo in a Republican civil war that shreds their party to pieces.
I would settle for "pares away the far-right extremists and starts trying to achieve bipartisan goals" at this point. Only if the Progressive Dems can hold and drag the "center" leftwards to the actual center again.
From your lips...
A kiss...changed my life around,
A kiss like yours, no where can be found
Gee gee how blest I am,
to have a kiss from your lips, A kiss from your lips
I think the opening salvo was fired a while back.

That's just my opinion.
I mean that's ultimately how we get here, but they all folded like wet paper once it looked like he was going to win. It's hard to call a bunch of grumbling an "opening salvo". Certainly one of the earliest cracks in their unity though.
I think they didn't like Trump rocking the boat, and I don't think they are very likely to forgive and forget. Further, Trump isn't going to be able to tweet from prison. There's gonna be a power struggle.
Unfortunately not a civil war but rather yet another move to eradicate anyone not extreme enough for them.
How is Gaetz not extreme enough? Do you honestly think he's anything but on the far right?
McCarthy wasn't extreme enough was what I meant
