friendly reminder that badly behaving dogs are the fault of shitty owners who can't be arsed to train them properly.

Almost any dog can, without great trouble, be trained to follow basic commands and actually enjoy their lives rather than being vibrating masses of anxiety.

My parents' Chihuahua literally can't. She has Addison's disease.

She starts having seizures when my dad is gone for too long because she can't handle the stress.

yeah, sadly people pretty much only buy small dogs because they don't have to train them to make sure they don't kill people, since they're too small to do much damage..

Like people think chihuahuas are just inherently neurotic, but no it's just that no one fucking trains a chihuahua and just treats it like a decoration.

This is certainly true, but, also, some dogs - like vets - have been traumatized and associate explosions with incoming violence. We have a staffy that spends about half of July and the first and last weeks of the year gorked up because she will literally retreat to the basement and begin digging a hole through the floor.
