A limited amount of self-promotion is accepted, IF the item you are selling aligns with this criteria:

  1. The item must be made with sustainable or recycled materials.
  2. If electronic in some way, the item must be open-source.
  3. The item must be user-serviceable (if applicable).
  4. You cannot be a large corporation.
  5. The post must be clearly marked with a [Self Promotion] tag in your title.

I use glasses for reading and driving only, which means I have them with me all the time but usually am not wearing them.

I hate bringing cases around, so I've got into the habit of getting frames on the thicker side so they can last being shoved in my pocket, sat on, jangled around with my keys, etc.

I've found pairs that surprisingly survive this behavior 1–2 years, and am curious if any frames can go even longer, possibly indefinitely. Any recommendations?

If you can find an eye glass shop that can order them OvvOs. I'm pretty rough with my glasses (rock climber, falls asleep with glasses on, general clutz and eats it while walking) and I just had the lenses on mine swapped out for my new prescription after 4 years and they've held up wonderfully. One of the arms broke when they were adjusting the fit on my face (metal fatigued after 4 years of abuse). The company sent out a new set of arms and got them swapped out ASAP now they're good as new (plus they sent a new set of all of the soft bits too). As a bonus they're not Luxottica owned (if that matters to you).

Going to second Ovvo. I have a pair of their titanium frames, and they're awesome. I can bend and twist them and they just flex right back into shape. I like that the arm hinges don’t have any screws or springs, they're just folded metal oragamied together. Plus, they're ridiculously light.
