More like there is absolutely zero benefit for the Tory party to address climate change now. It won't win back voters that are turning away from them, but it will piss off their core voters and financial backers.
A bleaker future is also great for them. People love voting for "strong" leaders with simple answers in tough times
Keeping things bleak does put them in a better place for when they're in opposition.
