I would, but I can't can't act like a(n emotionally considerate) 10 year old like I want to in real life. Yes, I know it's weird, but no, I still feel rage at CSAM and am asexual.
That said, if you won't try in real life... Well, the body can't gave a social life without the mind. If the real world isn't enough for some reason, learning to socialize in VR might ease the fear by providing comfort, just make sure your expensive goggles were worth it and actually say hi!
