As the title states, I'm really hoping to find a good pair of Bluetooth over-ear headphones that have ANC but also allow you to use it wired WITH the microphone.

This would rule out Sony, since the microphone isn't passed through the aux cable.

Hoping someone knows something, because trying to find one has been challenging! Thanks in advanced!

Your instructions are completely correct, but it might make more sense to look at the bands of metal rather than the insulator between them.

TRS stands for "Tip, Ring, Sleeve", referring to the 3 contacts on a TRS jack - one for the left channel, one for right and one for ground. TRRS as you might guess has an extra ring to provide a contact for the microphone as well. So you're looking for the metal tip, two rings of metal and then the metal sleeve.

True and technically correct. I just tried to simplify it to "Know the plug? Metal? Count how many things you see on it."
