A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

The world is bigger than the USA. Most western capitalist democracies do not have medical care or insurance tied to employment.
And your example of people "ending up on the streets" is such a fucking edge case. So don't try and paint it like this is an every day occurrence you disingenuous extremist.
Yeah more sensationalist unsubstantiated tankie bullshit. Good little tankie drone.
You lot live in a fucking fantasy world. You would run a mile if you ever had to live in one of your "socialist paradise" tankie regimes.
Here is an idea. You could move to one of them if the west is so bad. Oh no that's right, you lot just like to cry "west of bad" while idolising countries with a laundry list of genocides, atrocities and human rights abuses from the comfort of your western democratic basements.
Don't try to backtrack and play the victim card.
Your position is as transparent as glass. It boils down to being apologetic to authoritarianism regimes, and dismissing their despicable actions, while over exaggerating the problems of western democracies in order to paint them as the "bad guys".
It's nothing new and not as subtle as you think.
Hey, just want to commend you for being so nice to that disingenuous commenter above. Thanks for making Lemmy a nice place to be :)
It's really not. See Portland, Oregon. It's pretty much over run with homeless people at this point.
