I think that's the only line of dialogue that stuck with me from Automata. Basically calling the player a coomer.
The whole Romeos and Juliets sequence is pretty memorable, if only because it comes out of nowhere.

The point is that both work. I'm pretty sure it had that same ambiguity in Japanese too. And both are true.
It's definitely supposed to be ambiguous. 2B and 9S have a death and sex thing going on.
