Well, technically ... the home(aka. about:newtab) page is the active tab or do you mean the tab that was active before that? - If so ... wouldn't that potentially cause a loose of tabs, if you by accident activated/reuse/overwrite them this way? Doenst seem like a very good idea, but maybe i am just not seeing your usecase and you can explain yourself a bit more.

For example, if i am on lemmy.ml and click the address bar, it shows me my homepage with frequently visited sites.... If i click one of them, it opens a new tab instead of replacing the current site in the current tab with the new site... Hopefully that is clearer
