MODERATORS

Ella Pamfilova’s remarks come ahead of next month’s regional elections across Russia, as well as the 2024 presidential election, in which President Vladimir Putin is expected to seek re-election for a fifth term in office. Sources close to the presidential administration told the independent Meduza news website last month that regional authorities have been tasked with ensuring no less than 80% of the votes for the Russian leader.

"What is happening today in the West? That kind of democracy isn’t the rule of the majority, it’s the rule of the minority. We don't need such a democracy."

Okay, fine. I will reluctantly agree with her on that ONE single point. The US electoral college system is hot garbage.

That's (most likely) not what she means. Not least because most Western countries don't have an electoral college (but please do get rid of that institution:)). Instead, what she is probably referring to is developing respect for minorities aka "PC", "wokeness" and "LGBTQ propaganda" (paraphraseling right-wing talking points here).

You’re probably right

What she is "referring to" is the fact that she lives in a dictatorship and she would likely end up in jail simply for discussing democracy.
