I'm completely out of this loop, but why a tech channel would have a fanbase? I mean, I go there, watch the video about something I'm interested, then move on...
It's just a channel which talks about tech stuff for god sake
When a channel focused on specific topics (i.e. tech) becomes more about the personalities on them rather than the topics themselves, the toxic fanbase follows.
Because people are irrational.
PewDiePie just streamed games and reacted to them. Nostalgia Critic just reviewed old movies.
It's not easy to predict what would have a cult following.
LTT is infotainment first, tech second. I'm sure people binge watched him\them for just their format and personality. And as I see, they expanded to different social media and do meme stuff.
